First Dance
I had no idea how hard it was going to be to pick our first dance song. The list of criteria was long. It couldn’t be slow and sappy, it had to be new and fresh, we wanted it to represent us as a couple and of course we both had to love it. We went through many songs. You’re the One that I Want was the top contender. ( I love a Grease throwback. I once made a short film called The Grease Stalker about a crazy Greaser who used the film’s soundtrack as he stalked a woman to cut her hair.) But, we decided against playing THAT obviously into the gender role thing.
I have to credit Galit for finding the then coffee house special I’m Yours by Jason Mraz. It was the perfect first dance song. Now sweet memories of our wedding wash over me every time I hear the song, which, thanks to pop radio stations is once very 15 minutes. Unfortunately according to several of our guests, it makes them think of us too. Sorry guys!
