Be Upfront With Your Vendors
In many ways planning a same sex wedding is about the same as planning a heterosexual ceremony. The details, whether it be a simple and informal affair or a lavish production all depend upon the preferences of the couple. There will always be the matters of budget and conflicting dispositions of the couple to consider. However there are further issues to contend with in a gay union. In spite of the fact that statutes are now on the books that provide for the acknowledgment of gay marriages, there are still deeply held social conventions that may prove to be obstacles.
Gay couples planning their wedding must take extra steps to make sure that those they enlist to help don’t have any objections to providing services. This will simply require being up front with prospective vendors as to the nature of the event. If you contract with someone and don’t find out until later that their temperament does not agree with yours, it could be disastrous. Large event planning is stressful on any level. The last thing you need is to have a service provider back out at a critical time. It’s important to be sure that all your ducks are in a row.
